Major Steve Howery is an Army Reserve Military Intelligence officer mobilized twice for Operation Enduring Freedom and serving in Afghanistan and Southwest/Southeast Asia. Having enlisted in 1989, he made his way to the rank of sergeant before completing law school and receiving a commission in the Army’s JAG Corps in 1995.
In 1998, he transferred to Military Intelligence and since 9-11 has served an intelligence officer conducting operations against Al Qa’ida and Taliban terrorists throughout Afghanistan and Southwest/Southeast Asia. Currently he is commander of U.S. CENTCOM J2 ARE Detachment 7, a mobilized reserve intelligence unit providing operational support to forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In his civilian capacity, MAJ Howery is a corporate executive, licensed attorney, and published novelist. He and his wife and children have made their home in Highlands Ranch, Colorado since 1995.
